This document has two sections. Part 1 relates to construction and maintenance of a Dog Breeding Establishment. Part 2 relates to operation and management of a Dog Breeding Establishment.
These Guidelines do not cover all legislation that Dog Breeding Establishments must comply with. For example, they must also comply with relevant Health and Safety legislation as well as relevant animal welfare legislation.
Dog Breeding Establishment Guidelines
Local Authorities will use these guidelines to assist legitimate establishments who wish to maintain or improve the welfare standards of animals in their care in a positive spirit of consultation.
These are the original guidelines and have since been superseded. Updated guidelines are available at Dog Breeding Establishment Guidelines 2018 .
