In 2014, we published a Review of the Producer Responsibility Initiative Model in Ireland.
The report was wide ranging and included segments on the existing PRIs, enforcement, competition among compliance schemes, information and awareness raising, corporate governance and potential new waste streams that might be covered by Producer Responsibility Initiatives in the future, such as Construction & Demolition (C&D) waste and Newsprint & Magazine waste.
The report contained approximately 170 recommendations, some of which were cross cutting, while others were specific to individual waste streams. Two waste streams, End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) and Tyres, were identified as priorities by the Review and work has been on-going in establishing new coherent PRIs for these waste streams.
