What a Rent Pressure Zone is

A Rent Pressure Zone (RPZ) is an area where legal restrictions apply to a rent increase - i.e. the lower of 2% per annum pro rata or general inflation, as recorded by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP). Limited exemptions apply to certain tenancies - RPZ exemptions - Residential Tenancies Board

The Entire Country is an RPZ from 20 June 2025

The Residential Tenancies (Amendment) Act 2025 came into operation on 20 June 2025 to extend and expand the operation of Rent Pressure Zones (RPZs) to cover the entire country until 28 February 2026.
