Second Report of the Low Pay Commission Recommendation for the National Minimum Wage

The Report sets out the Low Pay Commission’s recommendation to Government on the appropriate rate for the National Minimum Wage. The Commission proposal also sets out the evidence against which the recommendation of the Commission is grounded.

The remit of the Low Pay Commission (LPC) is to recommend levels for the minimum wage rates that will help as many low-paid workers as possible without any significant adverse impact on employment or the economy. The advice the LPC offers the government to achieve this is based on the best evidence, in relation to a set of criteria specified in Legislation.
