Working Group on Actions Involving Local Authorities as identified in the Action Plan for Survivors and Former Residents of Mother and Baby and County Home Institutions
This Working Group is established to progress actions in the Government’s Action Plan in response to the Final Report of the Commission of Investigation (Mother and Baby Homes and certain related matters) which involve local authorities.
The actions in question relate to:
- taking a survivor-centred approach to the access to and provision of local government services to survivors and their families
- local memorialisation projects in line with the wishes of former residents of mother and baby homes.
The Group will, following its deliberations, research and consultations with survivors and their families/survivor groups, submit a final draft report and guidelines for approval by the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage. Once approved, it is intended that the report and guidelines will be circulated to local authorities for their guidance, and published.
Membership and Terms of Reference
The working group will comprise representatives of the local authorities, nominated by the:
- City and County Management Association(CCMA)
- Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (DHLGH)
- Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY)
- Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD).
