The National Screening Advisory Committee (NSAC) is delighted to publish its Work Programme.
The NSAC would like to thank those who took the time to make a submission and contribute to the important work of the Committee. The Work Programme will be reviewed and updated regularly.

The expansion of the National Newborn Bloodspot Screening (NBS) Programme is a priority work stream for the Committee.
Over 30 conditions are being looked at by the Committee. These include conditions proposed in Annual Call 2021 and 2022, as well as conditions identified from clinical advice from the HSE’s National Newborn Bloodspot Screening Programme Governance Group.
The Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, formally approved the Committee’s recommendation to add of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) to the NBS programme on 26 November 2023.
