Chief Medical Officer

From: Department of Public Expenditure and Reform

The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for providing efficient and cost effective occupational health advice to the civil and public service. This includes:

  • advice on medical fitness for work
  • early workplace rehabilitation of sick employees
  • ill health retirements
  • providing health screenings and vaccinations to the civil and public service in co-operation with the State Claims Agency
  • policy advice / input on all work and health issues to the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform
