If you own a dog then you must have a licence for the dog.

You can purchase an annual (€20) or lifetime (€140) licence for your dog at your local Post Office, at licences.ie or your local authority.

You must be over 16 years of age to purchase a dog licence. Puppies under four months don’t need a licence unless they are taken away from their mother.

Kennel owners must buy a general dog licence from their local authority.
