Where you sell your vehicle privately, you, as the seller, and the buyer of the vehicle, must complete and sign the change of ownership section on the reverse of the Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC). It is the responsibility of the seller to send the VRC to us for updating.
We will post a VRC to the new owner.
Where you sell your vehicle to a motor dealer, you must give the dealer the Vehicle Registration Certificate/ Vehicle Licensing Certificate and complete Form RF105, along with the dealer. The Garage Identity Code must be included on the form for it to be processed. You should then send the signed RF105 to us for updating. Form RF105 is available here.

If you want to change ownership of a vehicle that has never been taxed either by current or last owner(s), please send us the details below:
We will then record the new owner details on the computer records and post them Form RF100 which will enable the vehicle to be taxed.
You must complete Form RF200 and send to your local motor tax office.

Where the current owner (seller) of the vehicle is deceased, a letter from the Executor of Will or Solicitor showing the buyer's right to the vehicle should accompany the Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC).
Where the VRC is not available or cannot be produced, we accept a declaration of ownership change in the form of a statutory declaration sworn before a Commissioner of Oaths or Practicing Solicitor. The Statutory Declaration must be also be accompanied by the aforementioned letter from Executor of Will or Solicitor.
