What the Beef Environmental Efficiency Pilot (BEEP) is
The Beef Environmental Efficiency Pilot (BEEP) aims to increase economic and environmental efficiency in the suckler herd through better data on herd performance. It also supports decision-making on the farm.
How to qualify
You can apply for the pilot if you are a suckler beef farmer and commit to completing the steps required during the scheme. As part of the pilot you must weigh unweaned calves and their dam and submit weight records to ICBF.
For inclusion in the scheme:
calves submitted for weighing must have been born between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019
unweaned live calf and dam must be weighed on your holding, individually and on the same day
scales registered in accordance with the pilot terms and conditions must be used
weights must be submitted between 8 March 2019 and 1 November 2019.
Rate of payment
You will be paid no more than €40 per eligible calf. Payment will be on beef breed (dam and sire) animals born in the herd between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019. Payments will be made in December 2019. The 'de minimis' regulation applies, limiting aid to €15,000 during any 3 -year period.
