The emergency works scheme provides funding for urgent works to schools that need resources as a result of an emergency situation, or to cater for special needs pupils who have enroled.
The purpose of the Summer Works Scheme is to transfer funding to individual school authorities to undertake small-scale building works. Ideally these works should be carried out during the summer, or at other quiet times, to avoid disruption to pupils and school staff.
Third level building projects are managed by the Higher Education Authority (HEA).
