Catherine Martin TD is the Minister for Media, Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports and the Gaeltacht. She was appointed to this role in June 2020.
Catherine was elected to represent the constituency of Dublin Rathdown in the 2020 general election. She is the Deputy Leader for the Green Party/Comhaontas Glas. She is also the inaugural Chair of the Oireachtas Women’s Parliamentary Caucus.
She represented the Dundrum Ward on Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council from May 2014 to February 2016. She was elected to the Dáil in February 2016.
Prior to her election she was a teacher of English and Music in St Tiernan’s school in Dundrum for 16 years as well as serving on the boards of Dundrum and Stillorgan Colleges of Further Education, St Tiernan’s Community School and Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board. She is on both the Mental Health and the Education Committees of the Oireachtas.
