Citizenship Ceremonies and Citizenship Celebration Events

Citizenship ceremonies

The granting of Irish Citizenship is an important milestone in the life journey of a resident who has decided to make Ireland their home. Ireland's first Civic Citizenship Ceremony took place on 24 June 2011 at Dublin Castle, Dublin, which saw 73 people from 24 countries become Irish citizens.

On Friday, 10 March, 2023, Minister for Justice Simon Harris and Minister for Children, Disability, Integration and Youth Roderic O’Gorman welcomed approximately 1,500 new Irish citizens at Dublin’s first in-person Citizenship Ceremonies in over four years. The Ceremonies were held in the RDS in Ballsbridge as applicants from over 100 countries around the world were conferred as Irish citizens.
