Workers’ Memorial Day is the day we remember those who passed away, became ill or were injured through work-related accidents.
Health and Safety Services on behalf of the Management Board invite you to stop, reflect and join us in a moments silence at 09.30hrs on Monday 29 April to support this national day of commemoration.
In Ireland the related figures are worth reflecting on. In the ten years between 2014 and 2023, 459 people died in work-related incidents and many thousands more were severely injured or made ill. In 2023 alone, 43 people died in work-related incidents. To date in 2024 sadly 6 people have lost their lives while at work.
These figures can be reduced through a combined and intensified effort by all concerned. By working together and promoting the practice of safety and health in workplaces throughout Ireland we will achieve a significant drop in these dreadful numbers.
We all have a responsibility to make sure that happens.
