Digital Ireland – Connecting our People, Securing our Future sets out the Government’s ambition and vision to 2030 to ensure Ireland remains a digital leader in an increasingly competitive global environment. This Strategy will build on Ireland’s strong digital foundation: our well-established reputation as a digital hub, our exceptional talent base and our vibrant innovation ecosystem.

Through Digital Ireland we will harness digital and AI opportunities for competitiveness and continued economic growth, to deliver effective and modern public services, and to empower our people to thrive in a digital society.

The Government recognises that the evolution of AI technologies brings new risks and challenges more broadly, including potential job displacement, as well as safety and privacy risks, and is committed to timely, robust and comprehensive responses as challenges arise.

Digital Ireland reinforces the Government’s commitment to Ireland’s important role in enforcing digital regulation. Ireland will continue to be a strong voice in Europe for a digital economy which supports competitiveness and innovation, while also protecting data privacy and fundamental rights.

Digital Ireland is a whole of government strategy, highlighting the priority and focus the Government has on our digital and AI ambitions. Implementation will be driven from the centre of government, on a cross-government basis, and with regular stakeholder engagement, to ensure Ireland’s success as a digital frontrunner.

The Strategy outlines five strategic and mutually reinforcing ambitions - Apply, Grow, Invest, Lead, and Empower – reflecting the agile approach needed to succeed in a fast-evolving digital world:
