Irish Government Economic and Evaluation Service (IGEES)
Established in 2012, the Irish Government Economic and Evaluation Service (IGEES) is the cross-government network of economists and policy analysts operating within the Irish civil service. IGEES analysts work in all government departments and a number of public sector organisations including the Revenue Commissioners, the Agri-Food Regulator, the Electoral Commission, the Irish Human Rights and Equalities Commission, the Parliamentary Budget Office and the Data Protection Commission. In these roles, IGEES analysts focus on delivering analysis and evaluation to inform the policy development process.
IGEES teams undertake analysis and publish research across a wide range of policy areas, delivering analytical outputs that include economic and expenditure analysis, programme evaluations, ex-ante appraisals, social and distributional impact analysis, internal briefings, and other analytical reports.
IGEES demonstrates the strong commitment of the government to a high and consistent standard of policy evaluation and economic analysis throughout the Irish civil service.
A key objective for IGEES is to enhance the role of economic and value-for-money analysis in public policy, and, in line with the objectives of the Public Service Transformation Strategy 2030, Better Public Services, to support the delivery of better public services, through an evidenced-informed approach to the design and implementation of public policy
Our website provides further details of the work of IGEES in pursuing these objectives, including publications, activities, and information on career opportunities within IGEES.
