Assigned responsibility for the direction and management of a Unit in the Legal Division that:
Provides legal advice and assistance to a number of Divisions and Units of the Department including in respect of international security policy, disarmament and non-proliferation, consular matters, diplomatic relations, immunities and privileges, law of the sea (marine biodiversity), UN human rights, Council of Europe and OSCE
Acts as agent of the Government in proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights, and provides a similar service in relation to complaints brought before the European Committee on Social Rights and UN Treaty Monitoring Bodies;
Represents Ireland at meetings in the UN, the Council of Europe, the EU and other international organisations and legal fora.
