Minister Heydon announces extension to Public Consultation on Food Vision 2030

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD, has today announced a two-week extension to the public consultation opened in April on the mid-term review of Food Vision 2030. The consultation, which was launched to provide stakeholders and members of the public with an opportunity to contribute to the Review, will now remain open until 28 May 2026.

Ireland’s approach to delivering sustainable agriculture and food is set out in Food Vision 2030, Ireland’s stakeholder-led strategy. Its vision is for Ireland to be “A World Leader in Sustainable Food Systems”, with environmental, economic and social sustainability at its core. It takes a food systems approach, recognising the importance of greater policy coherence and the involvement of all the food system stakeholders.

Announcing the extension, Minister Heydon encouraged all interested parties to take part and said:

“The public consultation is a key element of the stakeholder-led-strategy review process and broad participation is key to shaping this review. I am therefore, pleased to extend the deadline for submissions to the Food Vision 2030 public consultation. The involvement of as many stakeholders as possible is essential to the review process, to ensure that Food Vision remains a stakeholder-led strategy. This extension to the public consultation will provide additional time for stakeholders, including the wider public, to give their views and provide input into the review process.”

Submissions may be made online through the consultation questionnaire and sent to FoodVision2030@agriculture.gov.ie . The new deadline for receipt of submissions is Thursday, 28 May 2026.

Further details on the consultation, including the consultation questionnaire and submission process, are available on the Department’s website at Public Consultation on the Mid-Term Review of Food Vision 2030.
