Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue T.D, today announced the launch of the Equine Technical Support and Equine Breeding Scheme 2025 and the opening for receipt of applications. The scheme supports the development of our native equine industry through targeted investment under three programme headings: General Programme; Training/Education Programme; and Research into Equine Diseases Programmes.
The Minister said
“I am pleased to announce the launch of the Equine Technical and Equine Breeding Scheme 2025 which is worth €854,000 to the equine sector. I am very much committed to the continued support of the sector which contributes richly to the rural economy and the fabric of rural Ireland. The funding is provided to support various equine industry projects. Many innovative studbook, breeding and education and research projects were approved under this scheme in 2024 with funding awarded to nine organisations to deliver 38 projects. I look forward to approving further projects that will assist and contribute to the sustainable development of the sector”.
Applicants must comply with the specific terms and conditions of each programme and projects must be completed and reported on in late 2025. The closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm on Monday 16th December 2024.
Further details on the scheme, including a copy of the terms and conditions of each programme are available on the Department’s website under ‘Equine Support Scheme’.
