Public Sector Duty Reports

All public bodies in Ireland have a responsibility to promote equality, prevent discrimination and protect the human rights of their employees, customers and service users in the exercise of their functions. This is a legal obligation, called the Public Sector Equality and Human Rights Duty, and it originated in Section 42 of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Act 2014.

In line with the Department’s Mission and Values, as set out in the Department’s current Statement of Strategy 2025–2028, we hold the Public Sector Duty at the core of what we do. We strive to ensure that all of our services and policies are accessible to all of our customers and that we engage with all of our stakeholders in a fair, respectful and constructive manner.

The reports below detail our actions under the Public Sector Duty by year, including most recently in 2025.
