Minister of State for Community Development, Integration and Charities, Joe O’Brien today announced €10 million in funding across 17 projects working to support the reception and integration of Third Country Nationals in Ireland. The minimum AMIF grant available to projects was €300,000.
AMIF is a multi-year project with a total allocation of €60.19 million, made up of €49.77 million in EU funding and €10.42 million in national and beneficiary co-financing.
Announcing the 17 successful projects today, Minister Joe O’Brien said:
“The AMIF is a significant EU funding mechanism that enables us at a national level to financially support organisations that are doing crucial work in supporting the reception and integration of people arriving from Third Countries specifically. This is in recognition of the additional difficulties faced by vulnerable people from Third Countries seeking sanctuary in Ireland and the additional efforts of those groups working to welcome and support those people.
“EU financial support via the AMIF programme is substantial and helps us to further support the fantastic work underway in communities across Ireland to welcome new people. Today’s announcement comes after the recent announcements of the Community Integration Fund and the National Integration Fund – all of which recognise and further support the vital role that the Community & Voluntary sector is playing in local communities to foster successful integration efforts and create a welcoming environment for those people seeking to find a better life in Ireland.”
