Latest Updates - Temporary Emergency Supports
The Government is conscious of the increased financial pressure on households and businesses arising from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
In response, the Government has introduced temporary and targeted measures to reduce fuel prices for households and businesses with additional supports for key sectors of the Irish economy.
These measures include a temporary reduction in excise on petrol and diesel, reduction of the NORA levy on petroleum products, expansion of the diesel rebate scheme for hauliers, bus and coach operators, and an extension of the fuel allowance season by an additional four weeks. If you are having trouble paying your energy bills
- Contact your energy supplier early to avoid disconnection. Many suppliers are signed up to the Energy Engage Code, which offers a range of protections.
- Suppliers can offer repayment plans and assistance through a hardship fund if you are in financial difficulty.
- Switching provider can save hundreds of euros per year. Compare options on bonkers.ie or switcher.ie or speak directly to your supplier.
- Vulnerable customers have additional protections – make sure you are registered with your supplier.
