Today, Minister Jim O’Callaghan and Minister of State, Colm Brophy launched upgraded eGates facilities at Dublin Airport marking an important investment in Ireland’s border management infrastructure and passenger processing systems.
The new eGates introduce enhanced technology designed to improve passenger flow, strengthen security measures and support increasing passenger numbers at Ireland’s busiest airport.
The upgraded system includes improved facial comparison technology, enhanced impostor detection measures, a new two-step verification process and the introduction of ID card reader functionality for eligible passengers from participating countries. The new infrastructure will help streamline the arrivals process for passengers while continuing to support robust immigration and border security checks.
The upgraded eGates will continue to operate alongside existing immigration and international security verification systems, with passengers referred to immigration officers where further examination is required.
