Application for compensation: Death on duty of a member of An Garda Síochána caused by malicious injury


Who can apply

Dependents of deceased garda members who were fatally injured while on duty, while acting in a general capacity as a member or simply because they were a member of An Garda Síochána, can apply for compensation.

Information you will need

You will need the following information:

  • name and address of the applicant
  • name and rank of the deceased
  • relationship of applicant to the deceased
  • proof that the applicant (or each of the applicants) was dependent, or partly dependent on the deceased
  • date and place of death of the deceased
  • information about the injuries inflicted on the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the malicious injuries
