Minister Humphreys launches INTREO Work and Skills Events

The Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, has today launched the Intreo Work and Skills events, which are taking place from 6-19 October across the country.
Over 35 events are taking place around the country, with a huge range of opportunities on offer.
The events are taking place to provide jobseekers with an opportunity to connect with employers and to find out about training options to help them take the next step in their career.
Commenting on the events, Minister Heather Humphreys said:
“The Work and Skills events are an important support in bringing employers together with people who are actively seeking job opportunities, as well as highlighting the range of training options currently available.
“Those visiting an event will have an opportunity to meet directly with employers and learn more about the roles on offer across many sectors.
“The Education and Training Boards will be on hand to provide information on apprenticeships and a wide variety of courses to those interested in pursuing further training and development options.”
The annual events commence on Friday, 6 October at the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. Some 40 exhibitors will be at the Blanchardstown event including Hibernia Home Care, First Stop, Mc Donald’s and representatives from City of Dublin ETB.
In total, 35 events are taking place, both in-person and online, with a huge range of opportunities on offer.
The Minister encouraged those unable to attend in person to consider attending the online events.

The Work and Skills events are supported by the Department of Social Protection, SOLAS and the Education and Training Boards Ireland.
The Cross Border Partnership for Employment Services is a partnership to assist jobseekers and recruiting employers on both sides of the border to fill vacancies. The partnership includes members from the Department of Social Protection, the Department for Communities, Northern Ireland, business representatives and unions.
In particular, it provides pathways to the information required by people moving across the border, for example, jobseekers that need information on employment and training opportunities on both sides of the border, on taxation and the social security systems.
