"I am deeply concerned by today’s attack by Israel in Doha, Qatar.
"It risks further destabilising a fragile region, making a ceasefire in Gaza even more difficult to secure.
"As the Secretary General of the United Nations has said, it represents a flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
"This is a time for all with influence to use it to maximum effect to avoid escalation and to work to secure an immediate ceasefire and the release of remaining hostages.
"This will require careful and detailed diplomacy, not the use of blunt military force as we have seen today.
"Such action can only take us further from a ceasefire and lasting peace."
