Gov.ie website
The gov.ie website is maintained by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation on behalf of government departments. The Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation fully respects your right to privacy, and will not collect any personal information about you on this website without your clear and explicit permission.
Any personal information which you volunteer will be treated securely and confidentially in accordance with the Data Protection Acts 1988-2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
This statement relates to our privacy practices in connection with this website.
FormsIE
Collection and use of personal information
The FormsIE platform facilitates the creation of data collection web forms on behalf of public service organisations by OGCIO. FormsIE by their nature are a data collection interface and do not store data themselves.
Note: When you use a FormsIE service, the following personal information may be collected:
- contact information: name, email address, phone number and address
- form responses: any information you provide when filling out forms created using this service
MessagingIE
Data controller
For the purpose covered by this privacy notice, the data controllers are the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation (DPER) and the Public Sector Bodies (PSBs) who send messages on MessagingIE.
DPER is the data controller for the Public Service Identity (PSI) data which is processed when you authenticate using MyGovID. The PSI data is not shared with any of the PSBs.
The PSBs are the data controllers for any messages, and any attachments, that are sent to you using MessagingIE, with each PSB the data controller for each specific message that it sends.
PaymentsIE
Collection and use of personal information
Payments is a secure payments service provided by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) to enable Public Service Bodies (PSBs) to collect payments as part of their digital services. Payments may be used on its own or as part of a wider service journey that includes other Building Blocks.
Payments facilitates the creation of payment requests and the processing of payment transactions on behalf of PSBs. It does not process credit or debit card details or online banking credentials directly; these are handled by authorised third‑party payment providers.
When you use a PaymentsIE service, the following personal information may be processed:
- contact information, such as an email address, used to associate you with a payment
- payment request details, such as the amount due and a payment reference
- transaction metadata, such as confirmation that a payment has been completed
The personal data processed through PaymentsIE is determined by the PSB providing the service.
Journey Builder
Collection and use of personal information
Journey Builder is a workflow service provided by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) that supports Public Service Bodies (PSBs) in delivering digital public services. It enables PSBs to bring together different service components, such as forms, payments and messaging, into a single end‑to‑end service journey.
Journey Builder itself does not collect personal data directly from you. Instead, it coordinates and links the individual service components used by a PSB to deliver its service.
When you use a service that has been built using Journey Builder, the following personal information may be processed as part of the service:
- contact information, such as an email address, used to authenticate access to the service
- workflow metadata, such as confirmation that a step in the service has been completed
- reference identifiers that link together other Building Blocks relating to FormsIE, Payments, or MessagingIE used in the service
The specific personal data processed depends on the service provided by the PSB and the Building Blocks used within that service.
