Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal

The Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal is an independent statutory tribunal appointed by the President of the High Court to consider complaints of misconduct against solicitors and barristers.

The Tribunal has 33 members, with the majority being non-legal professionals along with solicitor and barrister members.

Applications about the alleged misconduct of a legal practitioner must come through the Law Society of Ireland or the Legal Services Regulatory Authority.

An application to the Tribunal concerning a solicitor or barrister may ultimately result in that legal practitioner being sanctioned by the Tribunal or by the President of the High Court.
