Following nomination by Fingal County Council/Dublin City Council, the Minister has appointed the following as a member of the Beaumont Hospital Board with effect from 27 March 2024 until 18 June 2026.
Tom works full-time as a Co Councillor on Fingal Co Council representing the Balbriggan ward and based in Skerries Co Dublin. He has served as a public representative for 14 years. On Fingal Co Council he is Chair of the Transport & Infrastructure Committee, Member of the Coastal Management Committee, Director of Skerries Mills CLG a Heritage Property.
Tom was a director family retail & food business in earlier years. Tom worked in the Department of Health Dail & Seanad as a Parliamentary Assistant to the opposition spokesman on Health and then Minister for Health 2007 to 2012 and 2016 to 2020. During that time Tom gained an in-depth knowledge of the Health Service including visits and briefings to many health facilities in Ireland. He attended key Cabinet Sub Committee meetings, Dail committee meetings and European meetings in Brussels.
