The OPW plays a vital role in protecting, promoting and sustaining rural Ireland.
Almost every town and village in Ireland has signs of the OPW’s footprint; whether it is work on a flood relief scheme, the construction of a Garda station or government office, or the management of a national monument, historic garden or visitor centre.
The OPW has a network of offices and depots that stretch from Donegal to Cork supporting jobs and investment. Its work maintaining and developing over 2,500 properties across Ireland delivers vital rural infrastructure, like its work on flood relief, which will help to sustain over 300 communities in the places they want to live into the future.
All across this Island the OPW works in partnership with local authorities, community groups, business interests and the public to realise the potential of rural Ireland.
