Parliamentary Counsel - Group 4

Margaret is in her current role since 2014 and leads a team of expert legislative drafters, Group 4, of the OPC. The group drafts primary legislation, including amendments to the Constitution, and certain secondary legislation for the Departments of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Foreign Affairs, Health, and the Department of Social Protection.

Areas of work include legislation relating to company law, competition law, AI, data and digital services and arbitration as well as mental health, reproductive law and other health related matters, the regulation of automatic enrolment of pensions and employment law.

She is a member of the Government Legislation Committee chaired by the Chief Whip, and reports to the Committee in respect of legislation falling in area of her responsibility.
