The objectives of the Environment and Climate Action Section is the:

development and implementation of the National Mitigation Plan
development and implementation of the National Adaptation Framework
ensuring that Ireland progresses towards meeting its EU and international emissions reductions targets
coordination of the sectoral adaptation planning process across Government
developing and supporting of an inclusive process of community engagement on climate change through the National Dialogue on Climate Change
