Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue, today announced payments have commenced issuing to farmers under the Tillage Incentive scheme.
Minister McConalogue commented:
“I am delighted to confirm that payments totalling €7.3 million have commenced issuing under the 2023 Tillage Incentive Scheme to 2,626 farmers.”
The Minister added:
“The Tillage Incentive Scheme was introduced in 2022 as part of a package of supports, in response to the illegal war in Ukraine. The Scheme was introduced to encourage farmers to sow additional eligible tillage crops to help reduce the dependency on imported animal feed materials and thereafter to maintain this additional tillage area going forward into 2023."
Concluding, the Minister said:
“Payments will be visible in farmers’ bank accounts in the coming days and the department will continue to process, as a matter of urgency, all remaining cases for payment as any outstanding queries are addressed.”
Farmers wishing to contact the department regarding their TIS payment, can ring the Direct Payments Helpline at 057-8674422 or by email to TIS@agriculture.gov.ie
The Tillage Incentive Scheme is implemented pursuant to the Temporary Crisis Fund Transition Framework for State Aid measures to support the economy following the aggression against Ukraine by Russia.
Farmers are paid €200 for each eligible hectare that has been maintained in tillage following conversion in 2022 and €400 for each eligible hectare that is newly converted to tillage in 2023.
In line with last year, not all applications are currently cleared for payment under the Tillage Aid Scheme. Regular pay runs will continue in the coming weeks to ensure cleared cases are processed for payment as quickly as possible.
It is important to note that payments may take up to 5 days to reach farmers' accounts.
Farmers can ring the Helpdesk at 057-8674422. Farmers can also submit any queries they may have online via www.agfood.ie or by email to TIS@agriculture.gov.ie
