The Minister of State with responsibility for Disability, Anne Rabbitte, T.D., today invited interested parties to apply to Chair the next Disability Stakeholders Group (DSG). This will be the sixth DSG and it will begin its work in January 2022.
The DSG has an important role in monitoring the implementation of the National Disability Inclusion Strategy 2017-2022 (NDIS). The NDIS is the key cross-departmental framework for policy and action to address the needs of persons with disabilities in across Ireland. Through its actions, the Strategy supports effective progress in implementing the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of Persons with a Disability (UNCRPD).
Interested parties can submit an expression of interest by completing the form available here and emailing your completed form to disability_policy@equality.gov.ie
The deadline for receipt of applications is 3pm on Monday, 13 December 2021. More information on the DSG, the role of Chair and how to complete the expression of interest form is available here.
Announcing the invitation for expressions of interest for the role of Chair, Minister Rabbitte said:
“As Chair of the National Disability Inclusion Strategy Steering Group, I have experienced first-hand the impact of the Disability Stakeholder Group. The role of DSG Chair is an important position that ensures that the Disability Stakeholder Group works cooperatively, inclusively and supportively to ensure that key issues are raised in Departmental and steering group meetings to critically assess, independently monitor, and effectively progress Ireland’s disability strategies and policies across Ireland. I look forward to working with the next DSG Chair during what will be a critical time in Ireland’s journey to further realise the rights of persons with disabilities.”
