Seanad Bye-Election - 8 March 2024

Darragh O’Brien, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, today (8 March 2024) announced that an Order has been made directing that a bye-election be held to fill the vacancies in the

Seanad caused by the resignation of Senator Niall Ó Donnghaile.

Senator Ó Donnghaile was elected from the Oireachtas Sub-Panel of the Administrative Panel and at the Seanad General Election in March 2020.

The last day for receiving nominations at the bye-election will be 22 March 2024 at 12 noon. The Seanad Returning Officer will sit for the ruling on nominations on 8 April 2024. Ballot papers will be issued on 15 April 2024 and the polls will close at 11am on 29 April 2024.

The electorate for the bye-election will be the members of Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann.
