Minister Ryan hosts the fourth National Climate Stakeholder Forum

Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan, hosted the fourth National Climate Stakeholder Forum (NCSF) today in the Convention Centre Dublin. The event was chaired by Professor Alan Barrett, Director of the ESRI.
The National Dialogue on Climate Action (NDCA) is Ireland's national programme to engage, enable and empower stakeholders and citizens across society to take climate action. The NCSF is as a central pillar of the NDCA and takes the form of a one-day workshop.
Following outputs from the previous forums, the National Youth Assembly on Climate, as well as the 2023 Climate Conversations, today’s event brought together nearly 200 stakeholders and policy makers to focus on engagement on climate action throughout the country.
Commenting on the event, Minister Ryan said:
"Outputs from the National Dialogue on Climate have shown that there is a lot of work being done to engage with citizens on climate action. We know there are many great examples of communities taking on climate action across Ireland right now and I want to expand on this.
"Today I am delighted to be joined by many groups taking climate action and discussing how we can expand their vision and engage on climate action with every part of society. It is vital that we work with every group and community to ensure we deliver a just and sustainable carbon neutral future.
"By enhancing our engagement, we hope to reach all communities across Ireland and make sure that everyone can be involved in taking climate action in an equitable manner."
Professor Alan Barrett of the ESRI said:
"This is my third time chairing this forum and I am happy to see how it has developed over the past eighteen months.
"We know from research that stakeholders and the public are aware of climate change, but often struggle to take decisive action. By focusing on engagement today’s forum will facilitate discussions on how policy makers and agencies can engage with and support communities to take climate action."
Participants at the forum had the opportunity to discuss engagement within their sector and were also asked to examine where gaps exist so that as many in society as possible are engaged in taking climate action.
The output of this forum will be a roadmap for delivering the new Action Plan on Climate Communications and Engagement.
