Ireland’s inaugural LogisTYcs event was a free event designed specifically for Transition Year students focused on providing them with a fun and interactive event which supplied them with knowledge and information on future career and educational opportunities within the supply chain and logistics sector. LogisTYcs took place on the 1st of March. The event ran over two sessions, one in the morning, one in the afternoon.
LogisTYcs was a free event that included Stage talks from Colm O’Regan as MC, Aoife McNamara, owner of a sustainable fashion brand, and a panel discussion from apprentices on the Logistics Associate Apprenticeship (LAA) and the Transport Operations & Commercial Driving Apprenticeship (CDAP) courses. Currently working in this sector. Exhibitions included sustainable technology vehicles (Electric, Gas Powered and HVO Vehicles), Drone display, and driving simulators.
The event was designed to be both informative and engaging, providing students with a firsthand experience of the various stages within the industry including a Women in Logistics and Supply Chain stand . The event encouraged interaction and engagement using a fun gamification system for the students.
Prizes for teams included tickets to Mondello Park to experience the Early-Drive | Electrified by Opel experience, a unique driving and road safety programme designed for teenage students to learn how to drive and get behind the wheel of a car for the first time. Other prizes included a day at the Virtual Driving Hub, experiencing driving simulators for the day, and sustainable technology branded items.
