Finance: When loans from Mayo County Council are being set up, the PPS Number is entered on loans in Agresso. This is necessary to allow TRS (Tax Relief at Source) on loans which are eligible for tax relief.

Community: The PPS Numbers of Participants of the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) from January 2018 will be collected by the Programme Implementers (PI’s) who will deliver the scheme on behalf of the Local Authority. The PPS number will be requested for a number of reasons, including to register on the programme, for referrals to the programme from other Bodies, and for programme evaluation purposes.

It is included in Housing Needs Assessment return to the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government. It is exchanged with the Department of Social Protection INTREO offices when clients are accommodated under the RAS so that Rent Supplement can be ceased.
Sanitary: Mayo County Council would like to be able to check the accuracy of PPS numbers received with the department, that is for individual well grant applications which can help prevent the Council losing money due to incorrect PPS numbers.

Mayo County Council will first consult with the Client Identity Services of the Department of Social Protection before using the PPS Number as a unique identifier in developing any future systems.
