This research defines and measures credit union viability. The analysis suggests that th surplus generated by a credit union and the capital strength of that credit union can be used together to measure a credit union’s viability.
The analysis is then extended to explore the factors which may positively or negatively influence the calculated measure of viability. In the development of this discussion document the Credit Union Advisory Committee (CUAC) undertook interviews with six credit unions.
