Research & Development and Health Analytics Division is responsible for providing an internal research service and economic support to the department to enable evidence-informed decision making; providing policy and strategic direction to the Minister and key stakeholders to ensure the development and implementation of a broad-based R&D roadmap for health to support better patient outcomes, a more sustainable health system and to contribute to wider economic goals; planning and supporting strategic development of health information as part of a cross-departmental and intersectoral approach; implementation of an eHealth Strategy for Ireland and its alignment with the proposed health reforms in conjunction with HSE; promoting and protecting Ireland's interests at EU level and in other relevant international fora; engagement with enterprise and academia in fulfilment of its functions.
