The Assistant Secretary for Transport Investment and Public Transport Policy has responsibility for the following:
Leading programmes of investment in public transport, active travel and road infrastructure under the National Development Plan to deliver on the national Planning Framework’s national strategic outcomes
Leading policy development on land transport including sustainable mobility
Governance oversight of the various State bodies in the transport sector including the National transport Authority, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, the Commission for Railway Regulation and the CIÉ group of companies
Liaison with the Local Government Management Agency and the Road Management Office to provide a framework and delivery mechanism for the efficient and effective management of the road network.
