Those who find it difficult to achieve self-sufficiency, and want to remain in State-supported accommodation, may apply to the Ukraine Crisis Temporary Accommodation Team (UCTAT) for continued State accommodation. Please note that this will most likely be in a different location and setting.
An application process will open in June 2026 with details of how to apply to be available in the coming weeks.
Individuals will be asked to self-declare their need for continued accommodation detailing the reasons why they would like to continue to avail of accommodation and provide supporting evidence.
The Department will accept supporting evidence in the form of payments received from the Department of Social Protection under the following:
- Disability Allowance;
- Carers Allowance;
- Domiciliary Care Allowance;
- Blind Pension;
- Old-age pension;
- Widows pension;
- One Parent Family or job seekers transitional payments.
In addition, medical evidence may be submitted, including letters from HSE consultants for individuals with highly complex medical needs. It is not suggested that all individuals in receipt of the above payment categories will require continued accommodation.
Accommodation will be provided in designated accommodation centres. There will be a number of centres available in various locations around the country. Further details on locations will be provided in the coming weeks.
People will not be guaranteed continued accommodation in the same setting or location in which they are currently resident. People who continue to be provided with accommodation in designated accommodation centres may not be eligible for the same social protection payments they currently receive.
People who live in designated State-supported accommodation, which includes accommodation, food and utilities, are instead entitled to the Beneficiary of Temporary Protection Weekly Payment. This is a payment of €38.80 per adult and €29.80 per child, subject to an income test.
Further information is available at Beneficiary of Temporary Protection Weekly Payment. Food, laundry, other services and integration supports are also provided.
More information how to apply for ongoing accommodation will be provided to residents in June 2026.
