Parliamentary Counsel – Group 1

Margaret leads Group 1 in the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel. The Group comprises a team of specialist legislative drafters, each of whom is also a qualified solicitor or barrister, and provides drafting services for the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment, Department of Culture Communications and Sport, Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht and the Department of Transport.

Legislation delivered by Group 1 includes provision relating to broadcasting and media, the environment, planning, utilities, electoral law, local government, official languages and the Gaeltacht, electricity and energy, housing, residential tenancies, road traffic, roads, and air transport.

Margaret reports to the Government Legislation Committee which is chaired by the Chief Whip in respect of the legislation for which she is responsible.
