Parliamentary Counsel – Group 3

Brendan heads Group 3 of the OPC, which drafts primary and secondary legislation for the Departments of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Children, Disability and Equality, Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, and the Taoiseach.

The work of Group 3 drafters includes legislation relating to criminal law and procedure, civil law (including civil procedure and the courts), immigration (including international protection), equality, child care and protection, disability and agricultural regulation.

Brendan is a member of the Government Legislation Committee chaired by the Chief Whip, and reports to the Committee in respect of legislation falling in his area of responsibility.
