Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Mr. Patrick O’Donovan, T.D., has announced the approval of Waterford County Council’s application under the Office of Public Works’ Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme. Under the scheme, the Office of Public Works (OPW) has approved funding of €61,815 for a Coastal Flooding and Erosion Risk Management Study of Ardmore Bay.
Making the announcement, Minister O’Donovan said:
“I had the opportunity to visit Ardmore in May and to see for myself the effects of coastal erosion there. I am therefore very pleased to be able to confirm today funding approval for a Coastal Flooding and Erosion Risk Management Study. The OPW has included Ardmore within its Coastal Monitoring Survey Programme and will be sharing any survey data of Ardmore Strand with Waterford County Council to assist with and inform this study.”
