Special leave, with pay, may be granted to a teacher who is a member of a voluntary search and rescue organisation if they are called out on a search and rescue operation.
In order to use the leave, the teacher must be a member of one of the following voluntary search and rescue organisations:

Teachers must apply directly to their current employer, such as their Board of Management, Manager, or Education and Training Board, for approval.
